Man charged for illegally selling gold

A local man has been charged with a felony after police say he spent several years illegally purchasing and selling precious metals from his business.

Albert Ruzzo, of West Warwick, owned Marc One Coin Company, an antique shop located on Main Street in Wakefield, Rhode Island. The shop specializes in selling and buying collectable coins and other metals.

Ruzzo was arrested last week on accusations of illegally purchasing gold jewelry and sterling silver flatware. The arrest was a result of an investigation dating back to 2011.

Ruzzo has a criminal history dating back to 1991 when he was tried and convicted for similar violations while operating a business in West Warwick. Ruzzo’s license to legally purchase precious metals expired back in 2009.

He was arraigned on Friday and released on personal recognizance. He is due back in court on June 18
